Pre-Convention Checklist

1. Become a member or confirm your membership if you’d like to deliberate and vote.
2. Review our agenda for timing on debate, discussions, talks and elections.
3. Review the resolutions slated for debate to consider arguments for, arguments against, and amendments.
4. Review the discussion questions on a 2028 presidential endorsement.
5. Review the elections and consider nominating yourself for a position.
6. Join our Discord and help us iron out details to ensure convention runs smoothly!

Schedule

(10 min break every hour)

• 10:00am - Setup
• 11:00am - Potluck - Join us for chili, cornbread & more!
• 12:15pm - The meeting starts - Introduction, reports on chapter work, debate on resolutions
• 2:00pm - Speakers & group discussions
• 3:40pm - Elections
• 4:10pm - Vegan ice cream sundaes, debate on resolutions, and cleanup

Potluck

We are going to kick everything off with a chili cook off and potluck. If you would like to try win the best chili, or just bring something for the potluck, please add the items you are planning on bringing to our sign up sheet: 2026 Convention - Potluck

Elections

Convention is where we elect our officers for the year. Working as an officer is a great way to get more involved with the chapter and grow the socialist movement in Kitsap County, so please let us know if you would like to throw your hat in the ring!

Speakers - KIAC, About Face

Members of the Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center (KIAC) and About Face: Veterans Against The War will discuss how their organizing connects with our work for migrant justice and veterans’ rights.

Discussion - 2028 Presidential Election

National has started sending out quarterly questions for all chapters to discuss, and report back on. This quarter’s questions revolve around the 2028 presidential election and how DSA should be involved. We have a block of time set aside to talk about these questions so we can have our voices heard and contribute to the democratic process.

Ice Cream Sundaes!

It is a long day, so we are going to break up the afternoon with ice cream sundaes. There will be vegan ice cream available.
