We are over a week into the unjustifiable and unethical war of aggression waged by the imperialist United States of America and the genocidal state of Israel against the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanese Republic. The Trump administration that promised peace and an end to “forever wars” has dusted off the 2000’s-era lies of WMDs and humanitarian concern to justify massacring human beings in densely populated civilian centers. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and US President Donald Trump have bypassed congressional approval yet again under false pretenses of imminent attack. We have deposed yet another sovereign leader in direct violation of international law and in our bombing campaign have managed to commit ecocide through the destruction of oil facilities that have wreaked enormous environmental damage alongside crippling civilian infrastructure.

The murders this past week of over a thousand men, women, and children are the latest victims of decades of US foreign policy since WWII that considers the deaths of millions in the global south not just an unfortunate side effect, but an intentional and necessary objective for continued US hegemony. US and Israeli politicians gain prominence by promoting Zionism, Islamophobia and stoking jingoism. Western capitalists benefit from cheap oil squeezed from bleeding nations via gunboat and airstrike diplomacy. US and Israeli arms dealers and munitions manufacturers, through the military industrial complex, profit immensely through continued forever wars. Each blood stained crater is then an opportunity to funnel aid money to US corporations for rebuilding the infrastructure that we destroyed. This continues long-standing US policy, encompassed by the arrogant violation of foreign national sovereignty, and the wholesale slaughter of innocents, for which the capitalist, white supremacist, and Christian-Nationalist/Zionist leaders of the USA and Israel have held a truly disgusting amount of enthusiasm for.

• Trump and Netanyahu’s terroristic bombing campaign against Iran and Lebanon is a continuation and escalation of these policies. Missile-producer RTX has announced a tenfold increase in annual production quotas after a decade’s worth of missiles was dropped on the people of Iran in just the first three days, including a Tomahawk missile that destroyed a girls’ school, killing 175 people including children. Republicans and Democrats alike in the Senate and House have, as recently as last week, blocked a War Powers Resolution to curb war spending and halt Trump’s military aggression. Not only this, but our ongoing inhumane blockade of Cuba, continued threats on neighbors, and paramilitary attacks on people within our own nation should reveal to other countries around the world the extent of this administration’s fascist goals.

As citizens of the world living within the US imperial core, we must organize and work towards ending this vicious cycle of unilateral destruction in the benefit of our Capitalist government and our cooperation with Israel’s fascistic ambitions. West Sound Democratic Socialists of America is not only calling for our representatives to take actions against this military aggression, but a total reconstruction of the systems that have allowed this monstrous cycle to continue and prosper.
